Archival Research Project

Overview

This final unit will take us through the rest of the semester as we focus on an archival research project.  The archival research project will be broken into several stages including a proposal, an annotated bibliography, an outline, a five minute presentation, and two drafts of a research paper.  This project will be archival based you will choose your primary text from an archive found in the archive list in Course Content.Throughout this unit we will focus on formulating research questions, finding credible sources to help us answer those questions, and drafting a thorough and coherent research paper.Research Paper Draft One is due May 1st by Midnight. Typed according to either MLA or APA guidelines, with a works cited page consisting of at least five sources, including the primary text.  At least 1500 words, upload to both the turnitin first draft assignment page, as well as the peer assessment assignment page.Research Paper Draft Two is due May 14th by Midnight. Typed according to MLA or APA guidelines, with a works cited page consisting of at least six sources, including the primary text.  At least 2000 words, upload to the first draft assignment page, as well as your portfolio.Learning Outcomes

  • Conduct a multi-stage research project beginning with an original inquiry, and developing a responding argument through the use of secondary sources.
  • Find and incorporate reliable and credible sources.
  • Demonstrate understanding of research as an ongoing academic conversation, not a project done in isolation.
  • Learn to apply the style conventions that will be expected within academic disciplines.
