In response to the topic below, write a thoughtful, well-balanced essay.
Length/Formatting: Be sure to distinguish between paragraphs. You should plan to write a well-developed intro, appropriate body paragraphs, and a conclusion paragraph. You must write an entire, complete essay. Focus on your thesis statement, your argument, and your organization. Your paper should be around 2 pages.
Exclusions: You may not use ANY outside sources for this paper. You may use copies of The Write Stuff, a dictionary, and a thesaurus. Do not use the internet for “help” with your essay; this constitutes plagiarism.
Side Note: be careful with your vocabulary and don’t be too wordy or flowery; don’t say “in conclusion” – I can see that it’s your conclusion
1) Several of our readings this semester were about courage – about types of courage and about how we experience courage. In On the Rez, SuAnn displayed courage when she confronted those making fun of her culture. In Beauty: When the Other Dancer is the Self, Alice was courageous when she was able to raise her head again after her eye surgery. Have you ever been bullied or embarrassed because of your culture or because of your appearance? How did you deal with that? Were you courageous? If so, write an essay offering relevant details explaining the bullying or self doubt and how you handled yourself. (Located in Page 630-631)
