Classmate ONE:
The research topic I have chosen the effect of politics on gun sales. There are a number of traditional things that come to mind that drive gun sales such as hunting seasons, target shooting, or Christmas and birthday gifts. Politics is a driving force as well. I look forward to researching how political influence inspires and motivates people to purchase guns. The first article I found is titled “The Politics of Fear: Is there an ideological asymmetry in existential motivation” (Social Cognition; New York, 2017). This article explores how politics prays on peoples fears. The second article I found is titled “Christmas Trees, Presidents, and Mass Shootings: Exploring gun purchases in the south and non-south” (Social Science Quarterly; 2021). This article speaks more directly to social and political influences on gun sales.

Classmate TWO:
My research question is on the impact of translating in the Greek New Testament as brothers and sisters instead of just brothers. Specifically on its impact on making the Bible more accessible to the modern church. My two starting articles are From to : Social transformation in Pauline Christianity by Horrell and FAMILIAL DIMENSIONS OF GROUP IDENTITY: “BROTHERS” (A[Delta]E[Lamda][Phi]OI) IN ASSOCIATIONS OF THE GREEK EAST by Harland. They are both scholarly sources on the use and evolution of in the GNT. The Horrell article focuses on Pauls uses and how he also incorporates the family of God imagery. This will apply to my topic by giving me detail about Pauls meaning in this term which will help with properly translating it. The Harland article narrows more on the uses of brothers. He gives more cultural uses and the way that the culture understood the term. This will give me the cultural background of this term which will allow me to then apply this term to our culture.
