The mission of the Kempley Massage Scholarship is to provide a helping hand for prospective students in need of financial assistance in paying for school. This scholarship was founded in memory of an Irenes graduate, Daymion Kempley, who went above and beyond adversity to earn his diploma.
During his education, Daymion endured several challenges and hardships and still persevered. When a family member lost her custody rights, he and his wife adopted all of her children. While cutting grass to help an elderly neighbor, a fragment of broken glass hit his face and destroyed the vision in his left eye. With his depth perception dramatically altered, he was unable to drive or work for many months.
Through all of this, Daymion stayed in school achieving perfect attendance! He always told anyone who would listen how much he loved Irenes and valued the experience he had as a student. Several years later, this beautiful spirits life was cut short by a massive heart attack. Our memories of Daymion are of his relentless smile, good natured disposition and his admirable tenacity. Following his funeral, the school promised Daymions widow that we would set up a scholarship in his name.
The Kempley Massage Scholarship awards up to $2,000 to be applied towards tuition.
