This assignment has two parts, which will be submitted in one document.
Part 1:
Based on an educational level of interest (i.e., pre-school, elementary, middle, high school), discuss a set of research-based strategies to monitor the academic achievement and adaptive behavior of students with intellectual disabilities. Be sure to include both formative and summative assessments and the scheduled timeframe for their implementation throughout a given school year. Note how this progress monitoring may differ within special education and inclusive classrooms, as well as the role of alternative assessments.
Part 2:
Based on the same educational level of interest identified in Part 1 of the assignment, discuss informal assessment procedures for students with intellectual disabilities involving special education teachers, inclusion teachers, counselors, social workers, para-professionals, and other support personnel as well as parents. Note what type of information could be learned and how it could be best utilized to enhance school and home performance of students with intellectual disabilities.
