Choose two short stories to write about from the Course Organizer (those you have been assigned to read for this course). Explore the similarities and/or differences between the two works while also discussing three or more literary elements and how each element contributes to your interpretation of the themes in both stories. Note: The literary elements that you choose to discuss in the body of the essay are the points of comparison/contrast between the two stories. You may choose either the point-by-point or the subject-by-subject method of organization.
Requirements:
Length: Three Full Pages Minimum, Double-Spaced Throughout, and Times New Roman Size 12 Font (Note: Better to go over than under the required length.)
Format: MLA (Four-line Heading, Appropriate Title, Last Name and Page Numbers, Spacing, Parenthetical Citations)
You do not need to include a works cited page since you will be using two stories taken from your textbook, and you are not required (nor are you encouraged) to do research for this paper. This should be your own analysis of the short stories that you have chosen.
Parenthetical citations (specific references to the page numbers, authors,–if necessary, names of worksif using two works by the same author) must be included in the essay. See sample essay as well as the Guidelines document in the Course Menu.
No parenthetical citations or quotes are to be included in the introductory paragraph or in the concluding paragraph.
A minimum of three brief quotes as well as 3 correctly formatted parenthetical citations must be included in each of the body paragraphs.
I’ve attached an example of what the essay needs to look like writing-wise. Don’t worry about quoting the page numbers I just need you to quote the words from the book and I’ll find the page number. I’ll be using the stories: “A Worn Path” by Eudora Welty & “Everyday Use” by Alice Walker. You can find the audio books on youtube if you can’t find them.
