Single-Subject Design

Single-subject research designs are popular in social work practice for measuring the impact of an intervention on an individual client, community, or organization. Using yourself as the subject, think about a common, everyday behavior or habit you would like to change. It can be something you would like to start or stop doing, or an activity level that you would like to increase or decrease. Next, develop a single-subject research design targeting the behavior you would like to change. In your discussion post, describe your research design and address the following elements:

  1. Dependent and independent variables
  2. Type of single-subject design you would use (e.g., A-B, A-B-A, A-B-A-B, etc.)
  3. Measurement and analysis strategy
