Students are to upload three individual files of Dragons Den Entrepreneur Pitch Summaries as outlined in the assignment instructions on Moodle and below:

Students need to watch three Dragons Den video segments and submit a 1-page (double spaced) summary report for each video (3 summary reports in total) based on the questions below.  Students are to make this a one-page summary, not a question followed by an answer.  Students are welcome to include any additional details which the student finds relevant and/or insightful. (Note: I will accept 2 pages double spaced if a student feels the space is required).

  • Name of the business/entrepreneur and the type of product/service they offer.
  • Entrepreneurs initial offer to the Dragons.  Explain why or why not this appropriate based on the stage of development (name the stage, ensure you provide a connection/reason) of the business development and Sources of Financing for Different Stages of Development (Chapter 6).
  • Quality of the business pitch, knowledge about the business, market, opportunity, etc.  Relate this back to one or more of the 5 Communication and 5 Competency Principals outlined in the Business Planning Process (Chapter # 5).
  • Does the Entrepreneur have Pattens or Registered Trademarks or Proprietary information?
  • How much Skin-in-the-Game does the Entrepreneur have?
  • How well did the Entrepreneur know the Dragons?  Was there anything the Entrepreneur did to appeal or demonstrate respect to one or more of the Dragons?  If yes, what.
  • Do the Dragons want to be Partners or Equity Investors?
  • Dragons feedback to the Entrepreneur.
  • Offers from Dragons (if any) and final offer accepted (if any).  What are the pros and cons of the accepted offer (connect the pros and cons of equity or debt financing to the accepted offer)?  Which Dragon or Dragons made an offer (if any)?
  • Review the business website for the Entrepreneur and provide insight into the current state of operations for the business.
  • If you were one of the Dragons is this a business, you would invest in?  Yes/no and why?
