After watching the above TedTalk, post your responses to the following questions:
1. One of the arguments for the legalization of recreational marijuana in the United States is that Prohibition (the prohibition of alcohol from 1919 to 1933) increased crime and forced up the price of liquor. In addition, the illegality of marijuana in the United States puts its growth and distribution under the control of organized crime, whereas if it were sold by licensed businesses it could be regulated and taxed. Evaluate these arguments and discuss how you might respond to them.
2. If you live in a state where recreational marijuana use is illegal, should you report to the authorities a student or professor whom you know is using marijuana? Make a list of the factors or premises that are most important in making your decision. Construct an argument supporting your conclusion.
