The academic study of mass media begins with an exercise in media literacy. In order to understand the significance of media we must become critical participants in the process. After watching the 1950s commercials starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz consider the following questions: 1.) Who is the source and what are they trying to communicate? 2.) How do you as an audience member interpret the message? 3.) What elements make the message influential? Consider at least one of the four dimensions of media literacy in your response.
