You are a consultant at the Everyone Is Welcome center for immigrants. The centers mission is to provide immigrants with a place to experience American culture and foster assimilation in the U.S. which includes securing gainful employment, becoming productive members of their communities and pursuing educational opportunities. The center accepts individuals beginning at age 5.
You will create a powerpoint presentation to share with stakeholders regarding the importance of the resources provided by the school. The presentation should include the following elements:
Identification and brief explanation of Ericksons theory of psychosocial development.
How does Ericksons theory impact language acquisition in both children and adult immigrants?
A definition of cultural assimilation as supported by a peer-reviewed scholarly, source from The Chicago School of Professional Psychologys library.
The challenges faced by individuals who migrate to the U.S. at an older age (40+ and higher).
The benefits of the center in providing resources to help with the psychological challenges the immigrants face. (I.e., being possibly viewed as a lower-class citizen, mistrust of governmental entities, identity confusion because of the assimilation process, etc.) Consider resources such as workshops on resume writing, completing a job application, the purpose of elections, etc.
The presentation should demonstrate creative thinking in 7-10 slides (not including title and reference slides) designed to garner continued financial support for the school. The presentation should include either a voice recorded explanation or the use of speakers notes on each slide. If you choose to provide a voice over, please speak clearly, professionally and confidently. The total time for the entire presentation should be 5-8 minutes in length. Not to exceed 8 minutes.
You should use solid academic writing and follow APA guidelines for all in-text citations and references. This assignment uses a grading rubric. Please review the rubric prior to writing the assignment to become familiar with the criteria and expectations.
You are required to use at least the textbook and two (2) additional peer-reviewed, scholarly sources from The Chicago School of Professional Psychologys library. All used sources, including the textbook, must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying citations. All references and citations used must be in APA style.
