To what extent was the Age of Jackson (1820s-40s) the age of the “common man”?
Use several examples from the time–such as Jackson himself, the democratization of politics, industrialization, the Bank War, Nullification Crisis, and Indian Removal. How does the Trail of Tears illustrate the dangers of democracy without responsibility? In other words, how was majority rule responsible for the tragedy?
