As you read this week’s reading assignment, you will see that most research begins with a problem or issue. What problem could your topic address? You may provide some detail as to why this topic is of interest to you, or why it would be of interest to the average member of a community, a voter, or a legislator.

Statement of the problem: What specific problem will your research address or solve?
Background of the problem: Identifies the wider issues underlying the research problem and question.
Purpose of the study: How will this study add to knowledge about the general problem? Who could benefit from the research?
Significance of the study: Why is this study is important to the field of public administration scholarship? What will you offer the stakeholders in this study?
