Now that you have identified a topic that interests you, write a brief narrative describing the research question about topic you have selected. You may provide additional detail as to why this topic is important to public administration scholarship or research. The research question should be focused and neither too broad nor too narrow. For example, if you choose juvenile delinquency (as the topic that will be researched), you might ask the following research questions: a. Would job readiness or life-skill training in public schools reduce the rate of juvenile delinquency in Kern County? b. How does the rate of juvenile delinquency (over the past year) in Kern County compare to that of Imperial County? c. Does educational outreach play a role in reducing juvenile delinquents’ return to crime in Kern County?
(This could represent a main research question and two sub-questions). You may also explain why the topic youve selected is feasible for a graduate study. Can a student researcher conduct this study with limited time and resources? This may involve explaining the scope and focus of the research you will be proposing in this course.
