Identifying abuse is the responsibility of every health care professional. Some common characteristics of suspected abuse include poor hygiene, immersion burns bruises, or burns with a pattern, explanations that do not match the injury (Child Abuse, 2021). The facility’s procedure for reporting abuse includes ensuring the safety of the victim. A proper assessment must be conducted to collect evidence and understand the circumstances of the violence, abuse, or neglect. The health care professional must report the incident to the appropriate support services and authorities.
