TOPIC 2 DQ1

There have been several definitions for the family that has changed over time. The latest name being “family of choice.” That means a person selects persons to upkeep for, affection, and belief rather than the descendants of origin. Seizing the concept of what the word family means for a specific standard unit helps the nurse evaluate and interfere with domestic health promotions (GCU, 2018). Nurses’ ability to acknowledge nontraditional family structures involves them being able to look past what their eyes see. Changing the view that nontraditional families have of themselves for an extended amount of time taking care of an adoptive child sets the pathway for an environment for change, permitting families to determine their answers to health issues (Wright, L., Leahey, M., 1994). An individual does not occur in loneliness but is a unit or family unit. Each family associate feels closeness, inseparability, and intimacy of the family unit, but the family member remains liberated in feelings with individual persistence-energetic movements (GCU, 2018).
