Write a case analysis of a positive or negative incident or experience on a team that you have been a part of, either as a member or as an interested bystander. Use concepts and theories from this course thus far to describe and analyze the team and situation. If the experience was a negative one, make recommendations for what could have made it more effective and positive. If the experience was a positive one, describe qualities and characteristics that made it a positive experience. Approximately 65-70% of the length of the assignment should be devoted to the description and analysis. The remainder of the length should be devoted to recommendations or qualities/characteristics, as appropriate. 900-1200 words.

Address at a minimum these questions in your description and analysis:

  • What type of team is/was it (cross-functional, service, operations, marketing)?
  • What stage(s) of development is/was the group in?
  • Is/was the team self-managing, or manager-led?
  • How many people are/were on this team?
  • Did/does the team meet the criteria for a team described in our text?
  • Referring to the Model of Successful Team Performance on page 112 of the text, describe the team context, the relevant essential conditions, and the relevant team performance
  • Are/were any decision-making pitfalls present?
  • Based on what we have learned so far in this course, what could be or could have been done to make this a better team? Or, what makes/made this team an effective one?
