You are the athletic director at a college or university (you choose the institution) and have been told by the president that he is thinking of dropping the softball team. The team has been finishing below .500 for the past five years, and the president doesn’t see the value of women sports; Since the team isn’t winning, he has a hard time allocating funds to support the program.
You have been asked to create a PowerPoint (PPT) presentation for the president showing the importance of keeping the women’s softball program and its benefits to the institution.
Your presentation should be between 12 slides.
- The first part of your presentation should provide the demographics of the institution. Provide the name of the institution, location, enrollment, number of student-athletes for each sport, and collegiate level of play; Do an internet search for the university’s athletics department web site for the team’s information.
- The second part should show the history of the softball program, its records for the past five years, and any contributions it has made to the university and/or the surrounding community.
- The third part should show the softball coaching staff and their years of experience at the institution.
- The fourth part should show the softball team’s operating expenses from the previous year. Do an internet search for the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA) Report for this institution’s softball operating expenses.
- The fifth part should include fundraising ideas that the coaches and team members will pursue.
- The last slide should be your Conclusion.
Please use bullet points for your slides and the Notes section for the details that you would address in your presentation (see description of Notes section below).
A minimum of three (3) references should be used for this presentation.
Please include any logos, photos, graphics, etc., that would make an attractive and persuasive presentation to the president. Properly APA formatted citations for sources should be included on each slide where appropriate.
Notes Section: The Notes section in the PPT allows you to type your script so when you’re showing your presentation, you can read directly from these notes. Under “View” in the PPT document, you can select notes to see it.
