Information search is one of the key tactics and strategies for marketers. Consumers spend quite a bit of time seeking information on the product, brand or service they are looking for. In this opportunity as a marketing strategist, we can influence and even gain a rapport with our customers. For this exercise, search online for a product or service you have never tried or experienced before, but have been curious about. From a consumer perspective describe the following:

  • What is the product or service you had interest in and why?
  • What type of Google search keywords, social media, or website search did you conduct to find out more about this product or service?
  • How would you describe your experience? Did any brand resonate well and inform you to build trust in the information? Or was the information lacking and caused you to be confused?
  • Now, from a marketers perspective, describe how you would have made this information search experience better?
  • How did your culture, subculture, beliefs, or values influence your information search and experience?
