Write and submit a (approximately) 1-2 page reflection on the posted ageism TED Talk. Do you think you are ageist? Why or why not? What if the adult in question has a language disorder? If so, do you think it is more ageism or ableism (discrimination based on ability/inability (discrimination against people with handicaps/disorders/impairments/whatever term you stick in there))?
Bonus Professor Confession: I never realized how incredibly ageist I was until it was brought to my attention that I say not very nice things when I’m driving and someone driving around me does something annoying, and I look at the driver, and then if they look “old,” I’m like “oohhhhh of course” or “maybe you shouldn’t be driving on this road anymore”…
