Microbiology

FIRST – Don’t forget you DO have ONE Pearson HW assignment that encompasses both chapters.

Students have different ways of tackling these chapters. For one you don’t have to have exhaustive knowledge about every tiny detail for every virus discussed in these chapters, but there are some essential elements of every viral infection you need to know:

· Viral classification via nucleic acid

· Viral classification (family/genus)

· Infection caused, target cell (if any)

· How it is transmitted

· Infection classification: Chronic or acute

· Symptoms

· Treatment(s)

· Identify given a description or a photo

· Prevalence

· Tests used to identify the infection

Resources

· You should NOT have to go outside the book chapters (13, 24 and 25) for this. Stick to what the book tells you. If the book does not contain information on one of the above, don’t worry about it.

Tackle-It

You will be distilling the information into a table format and filling that table in. Build your own table based on the ones I’m showing you below and simply fill it in. Nope, I’m not providing the table itself, you have to build it.
