Neuroscience in Leadership in Apple Company
Introduction:
• Neuroscience in leadership is important in technological industries like Apple. Brain neuroscience in leadership is important in communicating organizational goals and making critical business decisions (Schaufenbuel, 2014). Neuroscience among leaders promotes proper communication channels amongst employees within the business environment.
• The problem of ineffective communication witnessed in the company between its management and stakeholders; neuroscience can be used to enhance relationships and ensure proper communication within the organization. The upgrading of the company’s new software was never communicated promptly to customers because the company did not use its brain’s knowledge to improve its customer relationship.
Statement of the problem:
• Apple is the leading company in the technology industry despite the competition it faces from its rivals like Samsung and Nokia. However, the company is more likely to experience challenges in the future due to poor social networks amongst its employees and customers (Waldman et al., 2011). This paper aims to demonstrate how the company can apply neuro-leadership knowledge to maintain good customer relations through communication.
Implementation and development:
• Neuroscience in leadership can be implemented in an organization through the leaders and other employees in supervisory positions. The company will enhance its social networks when neuroscience is implemented in Apple. Implementing neuroscience in leadership will involve having a good grip on emotional intelligence, human psychology, and cognitive factors that motivate people (Schaufenbuel, 2014).
• Implementing neuroscience in leadership will help the company engage all its stakeholders in decision-making, especially those critical to business growth.
• Apple needs leaders with neuroscience skills who understand the breakthroughs in cognitive science and leaders who will influence mindful decisions and changes within the organization. Neuroscience leadership can help Apple to develop brain-friendly leadership within the organization by considering the values of social interaction (Rock, 2010). Social interactions are critical to the brain. They help the brain to do deeper thinking.
• Implementing neuroscience in leadership at Apple involves creating time-in programs where the management takes time to reflect on the company’s goals and strategies. Connection time helps to strengthen relationships with customers. It can also be implemented through empathizing with customers, mainly aimed at impressing them through developed products and services.
Maintenance:
• Apple can maintain neuroscience in leadership through constant brain training, decision-making, and communication (Waldman et al., 2011).
• Constant brain training helps the brain to regulate itself to improve its performance. Constant brain training will help leaders respond to stress in their work settings.
• Maintaining proper communication helps to build stronger relationships between all company stakeholders. Neuroscience brings together all the biological differences that may limit communication.
Results:
• Implementing and maintaining neuroscience leadership in Apple will promote decision-making techniques to ensure good working relationships between leaders, employees, and customers. Neuroscience gives leaders a good understanding of the limbic system; as a result, they can control their emotions and stress at work.
• In addition, neuroscience help leaders understand their brain and the contribution of their brain to keeping the team together. Neuroscience is vital in creating leaders who can facilitate change by finding effective strategies for a change process.
Conclusion:
• This paper proposes the need to implement neuroscience in leadership at Apple. Neuroscience leadership helps shape leaders’ behavior, character, and reactions. Neuroscience also helps regulate emotions and enables leaders to understand their brains to make rational decisions. Finally, neuroscience leadership helps to strengthen work relations in a work setting.
