The purpose of this assignment is two-fold: 1) to hone your technical writing skills in a practical application and 2) to gain real-world experience in a service-learning project. You’ll also work independently with the client, iFixit, and learn project management skills and professional communication skills.
iFixit hosts repair guides for pretty much anything on their site. These guides are written by members of the public, including students at universities across the world. Over 100 million people each year use these guides.
Your job is to edit one of these guides, following our client’s specifications. In doing so, you’ll practice essential technical writing skills that you can then apply to your own projects (for this unit and throughout the semester).
