RESPONSE 1(grace)
What must be included in the result and discussion section of the research paper?
The results and discussion section are vital elements of a well-organized research study. The results section will present to the reader what the researcher found, while the discussion section tells the reader the interpretations of the findings (Ammon, 2022). The results section must include the summary and data of the study to put in context with the research questions. The study’s data should also include the logical sequence presented without bias or interpretation. Findings may be reported in written text, tables, graphs, and other illustrations. The result section also contextualizes the essential data by relating it to the research questions (Ammon, 2022). Only shared relevant data and findings that connect with the study’s goal. Otherwise, too much data may overwhelm a reader. An effective results section will present the findings of a survey without attempting to analyze or interpret them.
The discussion section is where the researcher interprets the data presented (Vieira et al., 2019). Researchers frequently compare their findings to those of other authors and researchers in the paper’s discussion section (Vieira et al., 2019). In other words, the discussion section connects the study’s results to the accepted theory in the field of study. Because of this, the discussion section summarizes the author’s data and explains how and why the study’s variables are related. It also includes connections to results from other studies and the consequences of the conclusion. The author typically explains how their work will practically affect a greater area, much to the benefit of humanity, in the discussion’s implications component.
Select a research result and state whether it includes the necessary elements. Why and why not?
The escalating number of Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physicians Assistants (PAs) joining the workforce caught more attention as published by the New England Journal of Medicine. According to Edmunds (2018), the examination of workforce expansion in NPs-PAs and physicians estimated that around 67.3% of the upcoming professionals entering the workforce from 2016 to 2030 would be NPs or PAs. The rise in NPs and PAs, who typically concentrate on primary care, aligns with a decrease in physicians specializing in primary care. These data also call for careful thought on the part of the faculty about NP-PA practice and preparation. NP-PA faculty may need to refocus on what they must do to prepare this future workforce, some of whom will have full practice authority within their states if non-physicians take on close to two-thirds of the future healthcare workload. This group’s preparation might signify another crucial stage in the evolution of NPs-PAs, thus threatening the physician’s position in healthcare settings. Based on the selected article, the result section encompasses all the elements, such as the data summary that is placed into the context of the research study. There is a numeric illustration of the collected data and contextualization of the presented information. Both qualitative and quantitative have been utilized without biased interpretation.
In conclusion, depending on the target publication or research subject, structure and content may change the result and discussion segment. It is crucial to follow the prescribed format and discuss all significant aspects of the research’s findings and their implications.

Contents of the discussion and result section of a research paper
A research paper’s results and discussion section generally displays the study’s findings and interprets them in light of the research question and body of
previous research. The findings and discussion section need to include the following important components (Bem, 2021):
Results: clearly and briefly summarizes the study’s main conclusions. Charts, graphs, and other visual aids may be used to assist readers in comprehending the
findings.
Interpretation: Describe the findings’ importance and meaning. Relate the results to the study topic, the proposed hypotheses, and the body of current
knowledge.
Limitations: Describe the research’s limitations, including sample size, study design, and measuring methods.
Implications: Talk about the findings’ real-world applications for the industry and practitioners. Describe the results’ impact on our knowledge of the subject
and how they could guide future study.
Future research: Depending on the shortcomings and implications of the present study, identify potential topics for further investigation.
Conclusion: Restate the primary contribution of the research to the field and briefly summarize the major results and their consequences.
The study’s conclusions and consequences should be explained in detail in the results and discussion section, which should also point out the study’s limitations
and recommend topics for further investigation (Vieira et al., 2019).
My selected research result includes the necessary elements.
I looked for a nursing research paper with a results section to provide an example of these components and came across the following:
“The Effect of a Nurse-Led Telephone Follow-Up Intervention on Self-Care Behaviors among Patients with Coronary Artery Disease: A Randomized Controlled Trial” by Najafi et
- (2016).
The following subsections comprise the article’s results section: Sample characteristics; Self-care behavior comparisons between intervention and control
groups; Self-care behavior comparisons within intervention and control groups; and Factors related to self-care behaviors.
The article presents the data in tables and graphs and provides descriptive and inferential statistics of the sample and the outcome variables. Additionally, it
employs repeated measures ANOVA and paired t-tests to assess the self-care practices across and within the groups at various periods. Using multivariate linear
regression, it pinpoints the variables that affect self-care habits.
Except for describing the major discoveries directly addressing the study topic, the article has all the components of a result section. The article might be made
better by concluding each section with a concise summary of the major finding, like this:
The nurse-led telephone follow-up intervention significantly improved self-care behaviors among patients with coronary artery disease compared to usual care.
