Commentary Assignment
Understanding biblical foundations for relationships is of utmost importance as believers. Being exposed to various theological perspectives is also important and broadens one’s appreciation for various viewpoints. For this assignment, skim the Sacred Relationships text. As you skim the text, select a book of the Bible (must be a book Barclay discusses in the Sacred Relationships text) you would like to study further. Reread that chapter in the Barclay text and take notes of his key points to submit for grading. Next, using the recommended commentary list provided on the course site read/skim a commentary of your choosing on the book of the Bible selected (focus on the introductory sections with general overview information). While reading the commentary, take notes to submit for credit based on points you find interesting, novel, questions you have, and points that you think are noteworthy. At the end of your notes please write a short essay (1-2 pages) discussing notable theological differences in Barclay vs. the commentary selected and your own thoughts. As you complete this assignment be sure to cite all ideas not your own in APA forma.
