Complete an executive summary of a business proposal and financial plan to support a needed service or change in current service.

Required elements are to be presented with complete, accurate, concise information. Writing is succinct, organized, and reflects a synthesis of information.

Required elements include:

  • Introduction/Background
    • Provide a brief introduction to what will be presented in the proposal.
  • Aim statement
    • The aim statement should reflect specific measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bound goals for a business proposal (SMART goals).
  • Proposed Solution
    • The proposed solution is based on evidence and aligned with organizational mission, vision, and values. Present options which include financial impact, budget requested, revenue generation or return on investment.
  • SWOT Analysis
    • Provide a succinct market or SWOT analysis with supporting data.
  • Implementation Plan and Timeline
    • Timeline, Goals, and Action Planning
      • Provide the timeline for implementation with goals and plans for action related to ensuring that the project stays on track.
    • Evaluation & Monitoring Plan
      • Describe how will you know you have made a difference.
      • What tools do you plan to use to evaluate the efficacy of the proposal?
      • How will you continue to monitor the process after implementation?
    • Financial and Budget Plan
      • The financial or budget plan, depending on the proposal, could be a budget spreadsheet, a formal FTE request, incentivization costs, and costs associated with resources used in the project.
      • Consider what type of costs will need to be addressed in order to promote a successful implementation related to the proposal.
    • Conclusion with Recommendation
      • Provide a brief conclusion offering recommendations for continued improvement based on the proposal.
