1.  The “Guide for Selecting Anti-Bias Children’s Books” states: “The visual and verbal messages young children absorb from books (and other media) heavily influence their ideas about themselves and others. Depending on the quality of the book, they can reinforce (or undermine) children’s affirmative self-concept, teach accurate (or misleading) information about people of various identities, and foster positive (or negative) attitudes about diversity.” Do you agree with this quote?  Explain why or why not.

2.  An educator is also the baseball coach at the school. Each year new uniforms must be ordered to replace the previous year’s uniforms. A local sporting supply vendor knows this and begins to send the educator emails asking for their business. The vendor then extends an invitation to the educator to come to the sporting supply shop and while at the shop the vendor offers the educator $500.00 of free merchandise in exchange for the school’s baseball uniform business and another $500.00 in free merchandise for each coach, they convince to switch their business to the vendor. How might you address this situation appropriately? Include evidence from the Model Code of Ethics for Educators and Professional Dispositions of Learners.
