In the case study How to Change the World (Stevenson, 2008), the author describes dreams of making a meaningful difference in the world. The scenario outlines the dilemma he faces when offered several different employment opportunities, each of which would allow him to impact others, but in very different ways.
After reading the case study, answer the following questions in essay format:
- Which career should Alan choose in order to make the biggest difference? Could Alans own cultural background affect his employment choices?
- Next, read the experts’ opinions on which choice each believes is best. Has your answer changed? If it has changed, describe in what way has it changed? If it has not changed, what do you think caused you to retain your beliefs? Which expert most closely aligns with your point of view and why?
