PEER RESPONSES

Assessment Description

Watch the video “Forms of Marketing Research.” Company A is thinking about bringing to market a new product in a category where it knows very little about the consumers or their needs and wants. Describe which forms of marketing research would be appropriate and explain why. By contrast, Company B has an established product and knows a lot about its customers. The company wants to measure customer satisfaction. Describe which forms of marketing research would be appropriate and explain why. In replies to peers, provide additional ideas for the types of research that could be used.

In my opinion Company A should use quantitative research to find out first of all whether or not the product is in demand and how many customers would be interested in the product. Company A should, however, use Secondary Data to obtain statistics and research about how other companies have applied similar services or products in that market, the use of surveys, and a demographic investigation could also benefit the plans of Company A.

Company B on the other hand, should use primary information which should be easier to obtain due to the company already having a relationship with the consumers, therefore primary research would allow company B to know about customer satisfaction.

After watching the video Company A needs to use primary research to fully understand the needs and wants of the consumers. The primary research addresses the question specifically and steers the company in the right direction. The primary data research will take time but will provide all the answers that Company A is looking for. Using primary research data allows the company to get a better understanding of the specifics they need for the product to be successful.

Company B needs to use qualitative research. By using qualitative research Company B will be able to conduct surveys as well as depth interviews. Company B host focus groups to learn about the customer satisfaction. Since the company already knows a lot about their customers the company is needing to get the customers’ feedback. The qualitative research allows the company to interact with their customers in a way the customers will appreciate as well.

Company A, who has a new product to market and doesn’t know its customer’s wants and needs, would benefit the most from secondary research / qualitative research. Within qualitative research, the company will perform focus groups, case studies, and even surveys to get to know their customer’s wants and needs while launching their new product. Company B, who has an established product and knows their customers, but would like to measure customer satisfaction, would benefit the most from primary research / quantitative research. Within quantitative research, the company could also use surveys (similar to Company A), observe how customers interact with their product, as well as conduct experimentations for their data.

In Company A they would need to have advise from the marketing advisor which there are two options one being the primary data being expensive, but very useful because answers will be answered right away and very specific and then the secondary data which is not to expensive, but does take time for questions to get answered and be as specific. Will also need to have research to know if their product is good enough or needs work. Being able to have a marketing advisor can help the company since they are able to give the company the best advice.

In Company B to be able to know how their customer service is they just need to find a way to provide customer surveys. It can be either in messages, email, or in paper form. Customer just have to be notified of them receiving it and to fill it out. There may be different ways that the company can make it fun for the customer they can say ” If you take my survey and show me screenshot or proof I can give you this for free” and to be honest who does not like the word FREE. There may be other forms and ways the company may be able to tell their customers about the survey..

In my opinion Company A need more information and research on the product they trying to market. So, I think it should use primary research to look up more information on the product because it sounds like they need much more research and data before marketing their product. If they were to use secondary research that might be a waste of time and money because they need stronger research to find the information they need for this product.

Now Company B they have enough information where they might just need a secondary research or data because so much, they already know about the product they want to market. I guess if they company want much more information, they could us primary too but, in my opinion, don’t think they need to by information they already have.

Assessment Description

Watch the video “The Marketing Research Process.” What are the responsibilities of the client during the process? What are the responsibilities of the research team? Why are the interactions of the client and the team important during the marketing research process? In replies to peers, support or refute their positions using specific reasons, facts, and examples.

Denisse Delfin Ruiz

In my opinion during the process, customers should only be responsible for telling the truth on that way the results of the surveys are useful and truthful. On the other hand, the responsibilities of the research team would be to design or create surveys that are attractive to customers, the research team should also be responsible to make observations and experiment with the customers in order to obtain more information and establish a stronger relationship with the client. And if the relationship is already established it might be good to observe how satisfied is our clientele. After all we will not know what to fix if we do not know or understand what is broken.
