In Chapter 4 of the textbook, Kinicki (2021) discusses stereotypes and perception. While not always negative, stereotyping groups of people can be harmful. For this essay, you will need to explain how stereotypes can impact organizational outcomes, as well as examine how emotional intelligence can be used to mitigate stress in organizations. Include your findings as you consider either gender or organizational stereotypes and write an essay that also addresses the elements below.
- Explain the four-step process of stereotype formation and maintenance, which is covered in Chapter 4 of the textbook.
- Identify common stereotypes related to gender or generation; use evidence to support your claims.
- Describe possible negative implications of holding these types of stereotypes.
- Recommend evidence-based strategies for overcoming harmful stereotypes.
- Support your claims with evidence through the use of in-text citations and references to scholarly sources.
Your essay must be at least two pages in length, not counting the title and reference pages. Be sure your essay includes an introduction and a conclusion. Also, you must include at least two references, one of which can be your textbook. The second source should be a peer-reviewed journal article. Finally, you must use APA Style (7th ed.) throughout.
