Identify one professional journal and one nursing or health care conference where you might present your project. Discuss why each of your choices is the best option for you to disseminate your new knowledge.

One professional journal for disseminating EBP and research is Nursing Research. Nursing Research consists of peer-reviewed articles and has been consistently ranked as one of the leading clinical nursing journals (Fowler et al ., 2021). It is published monthly by the American Nurses Association and encompasses a wide range of areas related to advancement in evidence-based practice, making it an ideal journal for sharing research and disseminating knowledge related to EBPs and research. Furthermore, it is heavily cited, which indicates that the impact of the shared knowledge is high, and the journal has an established impact factor, suggesting that the journal is well-respected and read by a large number of nurses.
One nursing or healthcare conference for disseminating EBP and research is Sigma Theta Tau International 44th Biennial Convention. Sigma Theta Tau International is the premier professional nursing organization and can provide a platform for the dissemination of knowledge related to evidence-based practice (Pabico et al ., 2021). Furthermore, the biennial convention provides the opportunity to share new knowledge in a variety of ways, including lectures, posters, workshops, symposia, and discussion sessions, which enables presenters to engage with their respective audience in a variety of ways. Additionally, the conference brings together nurses and other healthcare professionals, who can act as resources for exchanging information that can help advance research related to EBPs.
Overall, Nursing Research and Sigma Theta Tau International 44th Biennial Convention are both ideal options for disseminating evidence-based practices and research. The journal, Nursing Research, is highly acclaimed, extensively cited, and provides options for online or print publication. In addition, Sigma Theta Tau International offers a variety of opportunities for presenting and sharing knowledge, thus enabling the presenter to engage with their respective audience and gain insights from knowledgeable and experienced professionals.

Dissemination is an important component of translation of evidence because if the translation is not disseminated, then no change in care will occur and innovations will not be adopted. Dissemination of EBP help to strengthen the health care system by providing information at all levels of the health care system. In order for a research study to be completed, its findings must be presented at professional forums, published in peer-reviewed journals, and recommendations made regarding how the research findings may be translated into clinical practice.(Curtis et al., 2017).
The professional journal that I would select to present my research will be American Journal of Nursing (AJN). Peer reviewed and evidence-based, the oldest and most honored broad-based nursing journal in the world is considered the profession’s premier journal which will be a great platform for disseminating my EBP (AJN, n.d.). I would like to present my topic in IHI Patient safety Congress which brings together people who are passionate about ensuring safe, equitable care for all. IHI Congress attendees are especially interested in new approaches that demonstrate systemic improvement in the reduction of harm at various levels – within a team, department, facility, or organization-wide (IHI, n.d.). For a topic like Fall prevention, I think IHI will be a great platform that would help to draw attention of experts and raise constructive criticism of the results, thus getting an opportunity to improve the intervention. Presenting a session or poster at the IHI Patient Safety Congress is an excellent opportunity to highlight the work to improve the safety of patients and those who provide care.

Dissemination of evidence-based practice interventions is a vital step in evidence-based practice in order if we are to improve outcomes and practices (Beckett, & Powell, 2021). A great nursing journal for me to submit my project to would be The American Nurses Associations journal platform. The American Nurses Association is quite involved in the fight against the opioid crisis, aiding in reducing the numbers, for example, they have created a series of resources outlining best practices as well as proposals for how to improve the crisis on a national level (The American Nurses Association, 2023).
Having the opportunity either present my presentation at an American Nurses Association conference or have my presentation used in their journal entries would give me an opportunity to reach a vast number of colleagues, potentially increasing the number of individuals reach to influence a positive intervention practice nationally. In addition, The American Nurses Association had three of their Enterprise nurse leaders asked to participate in the national efforts to combat the opioid crisis (American Nurse Today, 2018).
Another great opportunity for me to present my project intervention on opioid misuse and abuse to network and reach other healthcare professional and providers is the annual opioid conference held in Tennessee this year. As Tennessee continues to rank in the top five states in the U.S. for overdose for more than a decade, the 3rd annual opioid conference and pre-conference will include a panel of experts in substance use disorder to discuss how genetics, trauma, and opportunity contribute to influencing opioid use disorder across the lifespan (Targeted News Service, 2023).

One professional journal where a project related to nursing or healthcare could be presented is the “Journal of Nursing Scholarship” (Resurchify, 2022). This journal is dedicated to publishing research and evidence-based practice (EBP) articles in nursing. It has a broad readership among nursing professionals and researchers, making it an ideal platform for disseminating new knowledge. Presenting the project in this journal would allow for a wide reach and exposure within the nursing community (Resurchify, 2022), fostering discussion and potentially influencing nursing practice.
As for a nursing or healthcare conference, the “International Nursing Research Conference” (INRC) could be an excellent choice (Leliopoulou&Stafylarakis, 2022). INRC is a renowned conference that focuses on nursing research and evidence-based practice. It attracts researchers, educators, and practitioners worldwide, creating a diverse and engaging environment for knowledge dissemination. Presenting the project at INRC would provide the opportunity to network with experts in the field, gain valuable feedback, and collaborate on future research projects. The conference’s international scope would also ensure global visibility and impact on the project’s findings (Leliopoulou&Stafylarakis, 2022).
Reason for Choosing This Choice
By choosing the “Journal of Nursing Scholarship” and the “International Nursing Research Conference,” the journal and the conference align closely with disseminating new knowledge in nursing and healthcare. These platforms provide appropriate audiences, opportunities for collaboration, and the potential to influence practice and research in the field.

Evidence-based Practice (EBP) is an essential component of the practice of a BSN-prepared RN. EBP requires nurses incorporate research evidence into their practice decisions, to ensure quality and safe care. With this approach, evidence is analyzed, analyzed and applied to individual patients, populations and global practice patterns. By applying EBP, nurses are better suited to make decisions that are based in the best research outcomes to improve patient care.
Two elements of EBP that I plan on integrating into my practice are utilizing evidence-based standards and continued education. Through education I can further understand how the evidence gathered from research studies relates to the best care provided for my patients (Trous et al ., 2021). I will also seek out evidence-based standards for the different practice areas in which I am involved. This will help ensure I am working within the guidelines that have been proven to show the best outcomes for the best care of my patients.
One potential obstacle to successful integration of EBP could be the lack of time to read and interpret the evidence. As a BSN-prepared RN, I plan to allocate a certain portion of my time each day to read and interpret evidence-based practice and review new research findings (Boyer, 2022). This will help ensure I’m up to date on the latest with practice standards and best practices. Additionally, I plan to speak with other nurses and floor managers on which evidence-based practice approaches have been successful. Implementing these strategies will minimize potential impact of this obstacle.
Overall, EBP is essential for optimal patient care. Through utilizing evidence-based standards and ongoing education, nurses, including BSN-prepared nurses, are better suited to make decisions for the best care for their patients. The challenge of lack of time to read, interpret and implement EBP can be minimized by setting aside a certain amount of time each day, coupled with seeking outside help from other nurses and managers, who can provide guidance.

Evidence based practice allows RNs in decision making by adapting the best available evidence. This means that decisions are based on research and current best practices, rather than personal opinion or anecdotal evidence. Integrating evidence-based practice (EBP) into the daily practice of healthcare professionals has the potential to improve the practice environment as well as patient outcomes (Abu-Baker et al., 2021). EBP integrates the clinical expertise, the latest and best available research evidence, as well as the patient’s unique values and circumstances. EBP is an essential part of BSN prepared nurse because it prepares them on various aspects of patient care, leadership and healthcare management that are evident in today’s practice.
By actively participating in nurse conferences and by participating in continuous learning, I will continue to integrate the evidence into my practice. Active participation in professional bodies would provide opportunities to access current research, that would help in integrating the evidence into practice. Continuing education also will help to keep me updated with current knowledge, technology and trends. Some of the obstacles that would hinder the implementation plan include time constraints related to staff turnover and resistance from staff (Alqahtani et al., 2022). Motivating the staff and providing them support will help to retain the staff which will help to reduce staff turnover. By providing knowledge on the topic and explaining the benefits will help to reduce staff resistance. Nurses must first believe that evidence-based care will result in improved patient outcomes in order for changes in their practice to occur.
