If you cannot motivate yourself to do the things that you really want to accomplish, what makes you think that you’ll be able to motivate anyone else to do what you want. Some of the greatest leaders I’ve ever met held me to a high standard, but I was always willing to try to meet that standard when I knew that they were holding themselves to a much higher one. By setting micro and macro goals for yourself, you will be able to figure out where your limits are, and be able to try to push past them. Observe what your weaknesses are and try to work on them. Are you having troubles making your bed? Do that one day. Then do it the next day. Any other thing you feel that you don’t do well… take it a bit at a time to show minute improvement, and soon you will be greatly improved. An example for myself: we own a piano, and I have never been really great at playing. I took some lessons when I was younger, but I was never really great. I decided that everytime I walk past it, I will play a scale or a song if one is on it already. I have noticed that I am getting better. I then noticed that I mess up alot when people are singing with me. So, I have started singing along with myself, and now my family is able to join me around the piano and I only mess up once or twice per song. I hope that it is starting to become an example to my kids so they will start to do the same thing.
CLASSMATE’S POST 2
It is important to lead myself because I wouldn’t be able to be an example for the people who follow me. Most importantly I couldn’t be an example for myself. Every day I am researching and learning, so I can enhance my professional skills and so I can be able to teach those who need it. I must say, I have always been the only one who knows my potential and know what I am capable of. I always stayed quiet. I had to realize and acknowledge how intelligent I was and know it with confidence. I had to believe in myself first.
