As you can plainly see in the readings, the problem of poverty is quite real in our society. The gap between rich and poor is extremely wide compared to other democratic and industrialized nations, and the gap often widens as the salaries of CEO’s continue to climb. Many who are poor work full-time and have multiple jobs. Of course, current events are adding new wrinkles to this problem. Is there a moral obligation to reduce poverty? Does the government have a moral responsibility to aid the poor? Is there perhaps an obligation for rich CEO’s to give better compensation to impoverished workers? There are many ways to talk about this. Which view (Utilitarian, Libertarian, or Rawlsian) seems best? Fully support your answer by explaining in detail how your chosen view is superior to the other two. Please provide the thoughts in at least 200-300 words.
