SECTION 1: Select one “big ticket” (a product that costs more than $500) consumer product and compare three different brands of that product.  For example, you might select refrigerators and compare Maytag, Kenmore, and GE or automobiles and compare Nissan, Ford, or GM.

The product comparison will be graded on format & sources and using APA formatting. See the grading rubric for specific requirements.

Product quality indicators should include, but are not limited to:

  • Price
  • Overall Quality
  • Durability
  • Warranty
  • Life Expectancy
  • Features
  • Return Policy

SECTION 2: Determine which product would be the best choice and explain why. Remember cheaper is not always better.

Submit a 1-2-page summary listing the product you selected and the retail store or Internet sites you visited. Include a summary of your research findings. An example of how you report your findings is provided below:
