The attached article is one of the more famous bureaucracy-related pieces of political science scholarship, and is considered a “must read” for all students of public administration. Read the attached article and respond to the following questions:
- After briefly describing the premise of this article, describe a recent encounter you have had with a “street-level bureaucrat.”
- Was this encounter a generally positive experience, or negative experience, in your mind? What made the experience positive or negative?
- In what ways did the “street-level bureaucrat,” in the experience you identify, further (or hinder) the public policy of his or her agency during their encounter with you?
- Describe at least one way (using at least one specific reference to the article) in which this article helped you better understand or appreciate your encounter with a “street-level bureaucrat.”
Your essay must be between 6-8 pages in length, be double-spaced with standard (1-inch) margins and 12-point Times New Roman font.
