  • Title: Bullying in school

 

  1. Introduction
    1. (Gain Audience Attention) According to stopbullying.com, 20%-28% of US student in grades 6-12 experience bullying, 30% young people admit to bullying others, and 70.6% have seen bullying in their schools.
    2. (Relate Topic to Audience)In 2017 suicide was the 3rd leading cause of death among young people, resulting in about 4,400 deaths per year, and at least 100 suicide attempts according to The Organic Agency. This could be happening to someone you know right now.
    3. (Thesis/Purpose Statement) Today, I will be persuading you to understand my opinion on why anyone who bullies in schools should be expelled permanently.
    4. (Credibility) I, myself, have experienced bullying while I was in grade school, and I know a lot of you have as well, also I have done extensive research.
    5. (Preview) I will go into further detail on what bullying does to a young mind, suicide from bullying, and ways to reduce bullying.
    6. (Transition to Body) To start off, let’s talk about the young people who get bullied in grade school and was that does to a growing mind.

      1. Kids become distracted from studies and are too scared to go to school.
      2. Young minds develop depression and anxiety from bullying, and require more mental health services throughout life
      3. Makes the person have low self-esteem or simply just resent everyone and grow hatred.
      4. Makes them wish they were dead instead of having to deal with the constant attacks.

      2. In 2005, 270 children in the 10-14 age group committed suicide.

      4. 71% of students report incidents of bullying as a problem as their schools.

      1. Get a clear definition of what people consider bullying.
      2. We need to address the behaviors of the bullies and the kids being bullied.
      3. Adults need to set clean and enforceable rules and expectations, and reward positive behavior.
      4. One of the most important things we need to do is engage the parents, it all starts at home.
