Description

Primary Task Response: Within the Discussion Board area, write 400–600 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas.
Story
The Solar Group (TSG) is a small company, but the completeness of a networking enterprise architecture (EA) is an obvious requirement for building and maintaining the corporate network infrastructure. Having standardized the framework and customized its viewpoint definitions, a network “As-Is” analysis can begin. These viewpoints must be consistent and reused throughout the enterprise. TSG decided to create a library of views so the definitions and management of views are enterprise-wide views. The viewpoints in the views with the viewpoint metadata will be new entities added to the TSG data dictionary, which already exists for data resources. The data dictionary will include viewpoint definitions, ownership responsibility, history, and the stakeholders and modeling techniques. The demographic, process, and configuration data are now added to views.
EA data, information, and knowledge are powerful resources, and accuracy cannot be sacrificed. TSG resolved that the network EA is so critical, a gap analysis should be included in the EA development. For this, the Zachman model will be used for each view across the who, what, when, where, why, and how columns of the model.
Lessons Learned (Moral)
The “As-Is” views might be very enlightening to TSG. During the acquisition process, changes might be promised, but documentation must reflect current reality and not planned or promised changes. The network EA must be managed as an ongoing operations step that is integrated with change management, not as a periodic review project.
