Part A:As you gain the knowledge and experience needed to lead teachers, do not be surprised when opportunities for you to lead professional development comes your way! For this discussion, imagine you are the presenter for your school’s professional development day. The purpose of this presentation is to instruct your colleagues on the basic tenants and benefits of regularly conducting action research in the teaching context. Remember to include what you can now share with your colleagues on reflective practice. You may also draw from the resources from Week 5 on using action research to improve professional learning in a school-wide context.
To get started, you will first create a 10-slide presentation (not including the title or reference slide) with a minimum of 50 words in the speaker note section per slide that you would use during professional development meetings or education workshops in leading teachers in adopting a researcher identity. Your speaker notes do not need to be complete sentences, but your notes should provide extra pertinent information related to your slide presentation.
In your initial post, upload the slide presentation file and describe in what situation you would share this information and the expected outcome of creating teacher-researcher identities in the school you serve. Keep in mind references to works cited should follow APA guidelines in your reference slide at the end of your slide presentation.
Part B:By now you have received feedback on all of the elements that have contributed to a well-developed Action Research Plan. This week, you will finalize all of the components of your research plan by incorporating the different types of feedback you have received from your instructor and peers, as well as incorporating all of the appropriate resources you have collected and used throughout the course. Before submitting the Final Action Research Plan, you should check for the following items:
- Title Page
- Table of Contents
- Introduction of the Problem: Last sentence of this section is your Statement of the Problem
- Research Question
- Literature Review
- Data Collection Plan
- Data Analysis Plan
- Reference Page
The final additions to your Action Research Plan include a title page, table of contents, and a polished reference page. Follow APA guidelines in creating each of these components.
