Week 6 – Assignment: Examine the Impacts of Policies Implemented During the Great Recession

Instructions

As an independent consultant with the federal government, assess three policies that were implemented during the Great Recession and then explain how those policies helped shape the recovery efforts. During the Great Recession, several industries were bailed out such as the automobile industry and the financial industry. Select any of the bailout policies. Then, be sure your paper includes the following:

Explain the benefits that resulted from the policies you chose.

Criticize the overall recovery efforts and identify whether the bailouts were necessary.

Describe alternative policies that could have been drafted instead of the bailout approach to the banking and automobile industries.

Assess any changes those great recession policies might have gone through up to today.

Length: 5–7 pages, not including title and reference pages.

References: Include a minimum of 5 scholarly resources.

Social programs continue to experience mixed reactions in society. Policymakers and policy advocates promote and educate people about these social programs to gather public support. As a policy analyst with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, create a PowerPoint presentation that addresses some of the historical trends and evolution of Medicare and Medicaid policies. Be sure your presentation addresses the following:

Define the benefits of Medicare and Medicaid services to those in need of support through social programs.

Explain the benefits of Medicaid to individuals with disabilities.

Critique social programs and identify areas needing improvement.

Identify recommendations that can help gain public support for social programs.
