There were several key takeaways from the video. Focusing on one or all of the four strength domains helps an individual uncover their benchmarks for career success. These domains are as follows: Executing, someone who has the ability to take charge and make things happen. Influencing, those individuals who help to influence others to take charge. Relationship building, those individuals who have the ability to maintain the group structure and help to mold and create a team environment. Strategic thinking comes from those individuals who consume any and all information in order to help the group make informative and solid decisions. The five lives example was interesting and the 360 reach assessment was also intriguing as these resources help us to answer the question, “Tell me about yourself.” 1
My project I choose relates to my career identity by helping explain and identify daily aspects of financial reporting in my job. My project is about EBITDA, defining, comparing and explaining how and why it is used in business valuations. Personally this has become a “hot topic” item within my last two career positions and including my current one today. Understanding EBITDA and comparing it to net income will help me speak more fluently about company ratios where valuations are concerned. I foresee the continual use of EBITDA in my career to come as long as this is the ratio used when it comes to providing information on the financial operations of a company.
