Other following surveys gave me the correct results. How people and societies perceive the future is called uncertainty avoidance. There is a substantial correlation connecting our current actions and our prospective conduct. On the other hand, a static system contains local and worldwide factors that cause uncertainty. Notwithstanding my lower rating, I feel that unity dictates how our society evolves (Hofstede Insights, 2021).
Furthermore, I outperformed the norm; fairness is becoming increasingly rare in current times due to intolerance, discrimination, and misinformation. Similarly, if the entire society respects women’s control and capability in masculinity, I suppose they will become more devoted managers. Companies must function by treating all individuals equally, regardless of their background (Hofstede Insights, 2021).

Discussion 2 / Week 1 – Cultural Intelligence (CQ)

Class,
I was thrown into the deep end with different cultures having grown up as a military “brat”. Early on in my father’s career he got orders to Bitburg, Germany and we had to learn pretty quickly our manners, numbers, and any other useful phrases to navigate our new culture and its people. Then, shortly after enlisting in the Air Force myself, I was sent to Quito, Ecuador and
once again I took to the books to immerse myself in the culture, language, and customs of our host nation. It was one of the best tours of duty I had. Fast forward a bit to my two deployments to Afghanistan; the first to Kandahar region, the second to Bagram region. I was never on the base, a.k.a. “FOB” for a long time, so I needed to know how to act if anything should happen outside the wire.
All of these opportunities have given me the drive to learn about all the places we may visit as we travel from our current assignment in Germany, perhaps that is why my CQ-Motivation score is the highest. Based on the chart I reside in the middle for Cultural Intelligence, or moderate. I feel this has been essential throughout my military career, and will only enhance my transition to the civilian sector in my entrepreneurial endeavors.
CQ Score (SUM)
CQ-Strategy (Metacognitive) 21
CQ-Knowledge (Cognitive) 18
CQ-Motivation 30
CQ-Behavior 27
CQ-Total 96
Cultural Intelligence is also referred to as Cultural Quotient (CQ) and it is a derivation of IQ. “Developing your CQ allows you to be attuned to the values, beliefs and attitudes of people from different cultures, and to respond with informed empathy and real understanding.” (Mindtools, 2022) Any company today would be remiss to think they don’t require CQ. Each city in America is a diverse melting pot of individuality, cultural history, and diverse talent that cannot be overlooked. Many companies have sought knowledge, training, and classes on Cultural Intelligence but it requires more in the way of interactions, hands-on, and in-place experiences. This is the only true way the American economy can globally remain on top.

Prior to reading the material for this discussion, I was not aware that LinkedIn was still a relevant site. I created a profile when I graduated high school but have only revisited the site a few times over the years. Most of the contact I have experienced was from recruiters for a job that seemed like a phishing attempt, which made me reluctant to use LinkedIn. So, I was shocked to learn that 95% of recruiters search LinkedIn to find candidates (Stahl, 2022). With this knowledge and the different features that were explained in readings, I may spend time to update my profile and learn more about what the website has to offer. However, I am still hesitant to believe that it would be beneficial to my professional development based on the amount of effort I would be willing to commit to the upkeep of my profile. I do not enjoy spending time on social media, and view LinkedIn to be a similar platform with a more professional setting. Therefore, I think the lack of time spent using features like video or sharing posts would hinder the benefits that the site could have for me. I do believe that for the right person, this site could be very beneficial if utilized to its capacity.
Another network organization that offers similar benefits to LinkedIn would be Facebook. I know many individuals that have a business profile in addition to their personal profile, and others that use one profile for both personal and business networking. For example, my coworker has a business profile for himself as a mortgage lender. He will use Live videos to connect with his followers and share posts relevant to buying a home or maintaining your property. Sharing these posts helps keep him engaged with his customers and continue to build a trusting relationship. When closing on a property, he will post pictures of the new homeowners at closing and include a thank you to the Title company, realtors, any other parties that assisted in the process. By doing this, he is promoting his own work as well as the work of others, and by tagging people in the post, it will become viewable on the other businesses Facebook pages. So, while the outreach may be limited to his followers and those of the businesses that his posts show on, this is still a great way for him to generate new business through referrals.

Morning Class,
My thoughts on LinkedIn, first I believe it gives people an advantage to showcase their talents. It allows you to showcase these talents in a way that you can jump start your career or find a new one. From the actual LinkedIn page on why to join, it breaks it down for you from creating a profile, building a network, finding a job and participate in conversations. These breakdowns show the diversity of how affective it can be.
Do I think it will be beneficial to set up a profile? Yes, is my answer to that question. I am going to set up a profile to help me network with people in similar fields, watch seminars and join marketing events.
Network similar to LinkedIn. I found one called Xing. It allows you to take control of what you want out of a career. It has different assessments to find the right path. It has coaches and trainers, company seminars, jobs and much more.
